Prasanna Lokuge, PhD

Dr. Lokuge has over twenty-five years ICT experience in high growth public and private sector organizations both in Sri Lanka and abroad. He has experience in Container Port automation projects and other ICT projects in France, Malaysia, Australia, Hong Kong, Korea, China, Vietnam and Middle East countries.

After completing his B.Sc., he obtained his Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Technology and M.Sc. in Computer Science from the Colombo University. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Monash University, Australia specializing in Artificial Intelligent Agent Architectures. Dr. Lokuge was awarded the Gold medal for becoming the batch top of the Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Technology in 1993 from the University of Colombo, the Postgraduate Publication Award from Monash University, Australia in 2004 and the Australian Postgraduate Award in 2005.

He has to his credit, many books, editorials and many research papers published in international journals and conferences in the areas of Artificial Intelligent Agents, Neural networks and use of Business Intelligence in improving the efficiency and productivity of Container Port Operations.

He has worked as a MIS consultant for World Bank and ADB funded projects. He has also worked as a Lecturer at Monash University and Central Queensland University, Australia, and has also rendered his services as a visiting lecturer at the Faculty of IT of the University of Moratuwa.

He is a chartered member of the BCS and holds the membership of the Australian Computer Society (ACS) and is a Fellow member of the Computer Society of Sri Lanka (CSSL). He is also a member of the Project Management Institute, USA and a professional Project Manager (PMP). He was a Board Director of the Project Management Institute, USA, Sri Lankan Chapter. Dr. Lokuge was the President of the Computer Society of Sri Lanka in 2008.

Currently he is working as the Director – Information Systems, Sri Lanka Ports Authority.
